Cerno epitomizes the beauty of mid-century modern design, using natural wood material constructed with clean lines. The team is led by Nick Sheridan (Co-founder), Daniel Wacholder (Co-founder), and Bret Englander (Co-founder). The work produced by the team is greatly influenced by their experience growing up in the creative environment of Laguna Beach. Daniel’s grandfather, Steve, also had a tremendous impact on the groups work ethics. Steve grew up in a rural homestead where being inventive and handy was a necessity. Steve lived to be 101 years old, leaving an impression on the Cerno group, such that, “where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Here are a few of the stunning items you can expect to see in our Winnipeg showroom in the weeks ahead:
The Levo is designed with technology in mind. This wall sconce has a built-in USB charger and a swing-out reading light that automatically turns on and off when it is in use and when it is returned to the base, respectively.
The Acuo has an effortless clean design that makes it a versatile piece for any room. The oiled walnut against the frosted shade creates contrast, and the staggered composition of the panels add a layer of visual interest.
Designed with utmost minimalism, the Tersus and Vix are composed of a slab of walnut with LED lights.
The Tersus wall sconce has a frosted polymer shade concealed by a dark stained walnut panel. When the sconce is turned on, a soft glow emanates from behind the wood panel.
The Vix linear pendant has both up-lighting and down-lighting, providing an appropriate distribution of light. This fixture is finished in an oiled walnut with aluminum metal.
The Fas floor lamp has a grey oak shade and a matching grey oak accented base. The lighting control at the neck of the lamp has the same grey oak finish that allows it to be concealed. When the wood collar mechanism is shifted, the light can be turned on or off. Brushed aluminum feet are used to help stabilize the lamp at an oblique position.
The Claudo pendant and the Aeris linear pendant are both finished in oiled walnut and constructed with a cuboid frame detailed with slits that allow light to peak through.
What makes Claudo different from the Aeris linear pendant is the placement of the slits and the use of a frosted polymer shade. The slits on the Claudo overlap vertically and horizontally creating a distinct pattern for each side. The inner portion of the pendant is lined with a frosted polymer shade which produces a softer glow of light.
The Aeris linear pendant has staggered horizontal slits that surrounds the fixtures structure. The Aeris does not have a frosted polymer shade which makes the shadows and the light that peaks through more prominent.
The Muto pendant is a sculptural work of art, that has a deconstructed pinwheel design made of walnut panel blocks and a frosted polymer shade. The wood elements of this fixture are arranged in a parallel pattern, distancing similar panels, and creating the illusion that they are floating.
The Ignis has dark stained walnut arches that help support the bouillote shade finished in rose gold. The Ignis maintains the minimalist look, by eliminating obstruction and keeping the focus on the smooth metal shade that is accentuated with wood detailing.
The Camur also has a very minimal design, with a slender frame that has a subtle curve. The pendant is finished in a dark stained walnut with a frosted polymer shade that is visible at the bottom of the fixture.
